What “custom” actually means
Most large retailers use “custom” to describe a configurator: you choose one of a few dozen preset settings, pick a metal, and drop in a stone. The setting itself already exists. That is customization, and it is genuinely useful, but it is not the same thing.
A fully custom ring starts from a blank file. The band width, the prong count and shape, the height of the basket, the gallery detail under the stone, the taper of the shank, the exact millimeter dimensions of the center stone and every accent. All of it is a decision rather than a default. If you want a cathedral setting that sits 1mm lower because your partner works with their hands, that is a change you can make. In a configurator it is not an option that exists.
The practical difference shows up in two places: rings that have to fit an existing wedding band, and rings built around an unusual stone shape or an heirloom stone. Both are routine in custom work and close to impossible off a shelf.
Why designing from scratch usually costs less, not more
The intuition is that bespoke should be the expensive option. In jewelry it often is not, and the reason is structural rather than clever.
A store with a display case has to buy stones and finished rings before it knows who will want them. That capital sits in a safe, sometimes for years. The business also pays rent on retail space, staffs a sales floor, and absorbs the cost of everything that never sells. All of it has to be recovered somewhere, and the only place it can be recovered is the price of the pieces that do sell.

How the design process works

- You get in touch with whatever you have: a Pinterest board, a photo, a rough budget, or nothing but a deadline.
- You meet your concierge on a call and ask everything. There is no script and no sales floor.
- Together you set the budget, the proposal date, and the stone priorities: type, size, shape, and whether certification or spread matters more to you.
- We design the ring in CAD and search a global network of more than two million stones against your brief, plus the private, relationship-only tier for anything rare.
- You review renderings, request changes, and can have a wax model sent to try on at home.
- You approve the final design and the ring is manufactured to order in about two weeks.
- It ships fully insured with an independent appraisal and final photographs.

Wedding and anniversary bands, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, men’s pieces, and resetting a stone you have inherited all run through the same CAD design, the same sourcing, the same wax try-on where it helps, and the same made-to-order production.
Nor is the stone always a diamond. We source colored gemstones, sapphire, emerald, ruby, spinel, tourmaline and more, and rare high-end material that never appears on a public list.
