When Ring Concierge is the better choice

Genuinely, and this is not a courtesy paragraph:

• You want to try rings on in a store. Nothing replaces putting a finished ring on a hand under real light, and if you are in New York, Los Angeles or Boca Raton you can do exactly that.
• You want to buy something today. A brand with inventory can hand you a finished piece. A made-to-order business structurally cannot.
• You want the brand. That is a real thing to want. A recognised name has value to some people and pretending otherwise would be silly.
• You are shopping for ready-to-wear fine jewelry rather than a commissioned piece.

When a business like Ring Mint is the better choice

• The ring you want is not in anyone's catalog. An heirloom stone in a non-standard size, a band that has to sit flush against an existing ring, an asymmetric setting. These are the cases where a ring builder runs out of road.
• You want the overhead out of the price. A store pays for a lease, a sales floor and every piece in the case that did not sell, and all of it is recovered in what does sell. Ring Mint clients typically pay 30 to 50 percent less than the retail price of a comparable ring for that reason alone.
• You would rather text than book an appointment. Most of the process here happens over WhatsApp.
• You want one person accountable end to end, from the first question to the insured delivery, rather than a handoff between departments.

Where Ring Mint is genuinely weaker

Does the ring you want already exist?

If no, and you keep finding rings that are almost right, then no amount of browsing will fix that, and the answer is to have one drawn. That is the whole reason a business like Ring Mint exists.

One thing from the bench: I have told people to go buy a ring somewhere else more than once, usually because their deadline was too close or because they had already found something they loved.
